The primary site design challenge was to locate and design the
house without cutting any of the large cedar and douglas fir trees on this two acre site.
The home was placed back from the private steet and it was designed with a narrow front to avoid the trees.
The garage was set back to lessens it's impact.
However,a high two story wall resulted. A pergula
(trellis) was created to break up the two story impact
and add archtectural interest..
The entry floor is slate with inlayed brass leaves.
The greatroom, consisting of the kitchen, dining room and living room, was divided by this cabinet system. The cabinet provided drawer storage, wine storage, and book shelves. The counter space provided an additional serving areaand a display space.
A very light and open kitchen with a extensive view
of the woods and garden.
The large island is very functional for food preperation and serving.
Note the salad sink in the island with a second garbage
disposal allowing for a second food preperation area.
It can also serve as a drink prep. area.
A small office space in the hall leading to the master
bedroom. It was tucked under the stairs and utilizes the space very well.
Quiet room for reading or watching TV
